What You Do When You Get There

To say the important part is what you do when you get there is genius. It is the best description of using the social media platform to promote business that I have heard. It is not enough just to have an account on the different sites. You have to take initiative and build your community. Then you have to engage that community and keep them interested.

I think that Ford’s Influence Project is an excellent use of social media. The TV spots have the same feel as the Youtube videos do. Consumers get the perspective of someone they feel they can relate to, almost trust.  People don’t trust corporations anymore.

This project comes from a totally different perspective than what we have seen before. Ford wanted to express to the average consumer, “there are people just like them who work at Ford, and there are people just like them who drive Ford vehicles”.  I think they totally hit their mark.
